Whitlock can bring his Grand Slam form to the PDC stage

If you were to walk along your local high street and ask Joe Public who his favourite wizard is you can expect an array of answers covering everything from Merlin to Harry Potter and Gandalf. Ask the same question at Alexandra Palace tonight and the only answers will be either Simon Whitlock or Colin Osborne.
Earlier this year Osborne's wizardry ensured he would be one of the few players who can lay claim to beating Phil Taylor in a final, pocketing one of the biggest non-televised purses on the tour by winning the Championship of Darts.
That win came four months after losing in the final of the UK Open to Taylor and was subsequent to another two Pro-tour tournament victories which have seen him climb to tenth in the PDC rankings. Yet despite being the in-form player of the floor circuit he flattered to deceive at the recent Grand Slam of Darts, crashing out at the group stage with just one win.
Whitlock on the other hand was once again brilliant in the tournament which has brought him great success and recognition in recent years. This will be his first PDC World Championships having recently made the switch from the BDO but I cannot see him being daunted by the prospect.
This one could go down to a deciding set but I have to side with the 'Wizard of Oz' given his superior recent form on the big stage.
