The Great Premier League Transfer Race
Michael / 08 July 2010 Free Bet

Right up until the undoubtedly mayhem-filled transfer deadline day, we'll be providing a weekly league table charting every Premier League club's net spend, allowing you to note how your team's ambition wallet-wise compares to the division's biggest spenders.
Unsurprisingly, Manchester City have already opened a ridiculous lead, splashing more than four times as much cash as their closest rivals, so it's going to take a monumental effort and probably a Middle Eastern takeover for anyone to come close to catching them.
Their nearest competitors in the cheque-writing stakes are rather surprisingly Wolves, who are narrowly ahead of fellow adventurous Midlanders Birmingham.
The London contingent are reluctant to be left behind and the biggest two thrust themselves into top-four contention yesterday afternoon, with Arsenal announcing the arrival of Lorient defender Laurent Koscielny for a reported £10 million and Chelsea bringing in - and apparently loaning straight back out again - £5 million-rated Czech youngster Tomas Kalas.
Five sides are yet to break the bank or flog the crown jewels so there's sure to be plenty more activity over the next week, so check back next Thursday for another update. Here's how things stand right now though...
