Sean O'Hair a serious talent
"Nick Watney is another who has been in eye-catching recent form and his fourth place here last year reads well. There is seemingly a real lack of potential stars coming through in America but Watney is among the best."
Sean O'Hair's recent form is not great but he missed the cut at last year's Transitions Tournament the week before finishing second here at Bay Hill to a mercurial Tiger Woods last day performance. I think O'Hair is a cracking bet at [32.0], the young American also finished third here the year before last and 14th the year before that. If the trend of improvement continues there's only one place he can go. I think we are getting an inflated price because of last week's performance but O'Hair has shown that isn't necessarily a problem. With no Tiger to contend with this can be Sean's year at the Arnold Palmer Invitational, now is the time to bet like men.
Graeme McDowell caught my eye playing some great golf at the Tavistock Cup earlier this week and checking his form at Bay Hill revealed that he tied for second on his first appearance here (in 2005). His only other appearance at this tournament came last year and his 40th place can be forgiven. McDowell played college golf in America and In 2002, he won the Haskins Award for most outstanding collegiate golfer in the United States, he's in form and more than capable of winning on the PGA Tour.
Nick Watney is another who has been in eye-catching recent form and his fourth place here last year reads well. There is seemingly a real lack of potential stars coming through in America but Watney is among the best (as is Mr O'Hair). I'd be very surprised if Watney isn't in the top 20 or so at the end of the week, he should give us a run for our money.
Dangers obviously include the returning Phil Mickelson, Bubba Watson (who needs a good week to get into the Masters) and Rickie Fowler who looks a big price and whose chances are talked up by the Punter.
Selections: Sean OHair [32.0], Graeme McDowell [50.0], Nick Watney [25.0]
