The Cheltenham World Hurdle is one of those races that has eluded the Irish trainers for some time now: Indeed, the last Irish raider to win was none other than Dorans Pride way back in 1995 for Michael Hourigan's yard. However, it's been a relatively punter friendly race in recent times and it's now ten years since a horse priced in double figures took home the prizemoney.
Last year's winner Big Buck's will attempt to make it two in-a-row in 2010 and Betfair punters have his price at [3.5] to achieve that feat.
Following Cheltenham 2009, the six-year-old went on to take Liverpool's Aintree Hurdle putting in another good performance, cementing his reputation as one of the best staying hurdlers since Baracouda.
It's unclear as yet what his next target will be, but there's a good chance that he'll take on the Hennessy once again at Newbury - a race where he unseated Sam Thomas last year.
Next in the betting comes Willie Mullins' Fiveforthree, who was last seen winning the Punchestown World Series Hurdle back in April. However, it's been reported that the six-year-old has suffered some setbacks at home and his price is trading around [13.0]. Karabak is third in the market at [15.0], with the rest of the field priced above [20.0].
