Irish Grand National Betting: Paul Carberry cleared to ride
Wayne Bailey / 08 April 2009 Free Bet
Jockey Paul Carberry has been declared fit to ride and will return to racing in time for Sunday's Fairyhouse Easter festival.
His agent Ciaran O'Toole told the press:
"He'll be riding Sunday. He suffered serious injuries, but he's back in good shape and set to resume on Sunday. He won't be riding Saturday but he'll be riding Sunday, and we'll hope for the best."
Carberry may now get the chance to ride in Monday's Irish Grand National - a race he won eleven years ago on board Bobbyjo, trained by his father Tommy. Bobbyjo famously went on to win the Aintree Grand National the following year in 1999 - ending a 24 year wait for an Irish trained victory.
