Fairyhouse Irish Grand National Odds: Tony McCoy to ride Wichita Lineman
Wayne Bailey / 09 April 2009 Free Bet
Tony McCoy will partner Wichita Lineman in Monday's Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Easter Monday. The champion jockey gave the horse a trademark ride when winning the William Hill Trophy at Cheltenham and the [18.0] available on Tuesday has been quickly snapped up by Betfair customers following the announcement - leaving the gelding trading as low as [10.5].
McManus' racing manager Frank Berry told the press:
"Wichita Lineman had quite a hard race at Cheltenham but he has also had a pretty quiet season and the intention is to run on Monday. The plan is for Tony to ride and something like yielding to soft ground would be ideal. We wouldn't want it too quick...We also have Garde Champetre, Arbor Supreme and Breaking Silence. We are looking at those four. But if the weights go up, there are a couple of others that might have a chance of running too."
As of Thursday evening, the Irish Grand National market leaders on Betfair are as follows:
Pomme Tiepy: [10.5]
Wichita Lineman: [10.5]
Emma Jane: [12.5]
Arbor Supreme: [13.0]
Garde Champetre: [15.0]
Rare Bob: [15.0]
The rest of the field are priced [16.0] and upwards
