Leopardstown 2:00 - Win Back - Jessies Dream
Only five are due to face the starter in the MCR Novice Chase but it promises to be a cracking contest. Jessies Dream is the only one of the quintet not to have won over fences but he looks well capable of setting the record straight. Unbeaten in three starts for Willie Mullins last season, he may well have made a winning debut over the larger obstacles but for falling 2 out in the race won by Zaarito here last month. He had jumped perfectly well up to that point and is a very exciting prospect.
Leopardstown 2:30 - Place Lay - Jaamid
Noel Meade's Jaamid looks worth taking on in what can hardly be described as a vintage renewal of the Leopardstown Chase. He ran well when second to Show Blessed here over Christmas but this trip stretches his stamina and he looks in the grip of the handicapper off a 4 lb higher mark. His finishing effort often leaves something to be desired so an in-running lay is also a possibility.
Leopardstown 3:05 - Win and Place Back - Uncle Tom Cobley, Jigalo
The MCR Hurdle (formerly the Pierse) looks as difficult to solve as ever but two that could go well at big prices are Uncle Tom Cobley and Jigalo. Uncle Tom Cobley, a free-going sort, benefitted from going left-handed (tends to jump left) when third to Fen Game in a conditions event at the Christmas meeting here. He appears to have been given a chance by the handicapper and a strongly-run race, as this always is, will suit. Jigalo ran a nice trial for this when sixth to Bobs Display in a big-field handicap at this track last time, finishing strongly having been well off the pace 2 out. He gets in off the same mark here, with the very capable Conor O'Farrell taking 7 lb off, and it looks significant that he has cheekpieces on for the first time in almost 2 years.
