Dettori brings Invisible Man home on Wednesday, can he repeat on Anna Salai?

"The mile at York only just caught Rainbow Peak out when he was beaten by a speedy horse in Fareer but he is back up in distance and this looks a perfect platform before launching himself at the big boys. He might be in races like the Champion Stakes by the end of the season."

Sisters have been doing it for themselves this week at Royal Ascot with Goldikova leading the way ahead of Ladies Day yesterday and the fillies taking centre stage in the Coronation Stakes at 15:50 this afternoon.

Those who believe in fate or a sense of divine justice will be looking to Jacqueline Quest to gain her reward for owner Noel Martin who was denied a 1000 Guineas Classic win by the Newmarket stewards. In truth, that decision was correct and it may be that Jacqueline Quest was flattered by the draw as she had been readily admonished previously by Music Show on her reappearance in the Nell Gwyn. If she has indeed improved then her form against Special Duty stands scrutiny.

Music Show herself is very closely matched with Lillie Langtry and Anna Salai on their Irish Guineas form. As likeable as she is though, I think she's had her chance and Lillie Langtry looks sure to improve on that close up, comeback fifth place. I don't think she's really top-class though and you'd have to be concerned backing any of the Ballydoyle horses in British Group races right now.

And then there is Anna Salai who - significantly - has Frankie Dettori on board for the first time this afternoon. Let's get it straight, had that been the case at the Curragh, she'd probably be a Classic winner and a very strong favourite for this. She travelled strongly in Ireland on her debut for Godolphin and it's easy to imagine a similar scenario at Ascot with a shortening in-running price to match. Expect a more patiently delivered final run from Frankie and that should be more than enough from a man who has always been a hit with the ladies.

Elsewhere, follow the in-form horses including this year's triple winner Three Moons in the King Edward VII Stakes (15:05). He has caught the eye with an upwardly mobile profile, including taking handicap wins at Newbury and Newmarket. He is a son of Montjeu who handles fast ground well and has already taken care of rival Monterosso this season. Strictly on form and ratings Harry Dunlop's colt has to improve to shake up the Derby runners At First Sight and Bullet Train, but they can be questioned and today's extra distance should allow him to bridge the gap.

Rainbow Peak didn't manage to win last time at York but he went very, very close and he is set to continue his rise in the Wolferton at 16:25. Already a winner at Ascot last September, Michael Jarvis's four-year-old ought to be in Group races before long and apparently they had considered the Brigadier Gerard at one stage. The mile at York only just caught Rainbow Peak out when he was beaten by a speedy horse in Fareer but he is back up in distance and this looks a perfect platform before launching himself at the big boys. He might be in races like the Champion Stakes by the end of the season.
