Henry Cecil came agonisingly close to his ninth Oaks winner when Midday was denied by Sariska last week but the trainer did gain some compensation when Cloudy Start won the last race on the card. Cecil has now had six winners from 23 runners in the last month and his yard look to be hitting top gear just in time for Royal Ascot. The yard introduced a well-backed newcomer, Chachamaidee, at Lingfield on Saturday night and the filly won in impressive fashion. She may prove to be a live contender if she takes up her entry in the Albany next week.
Jeremy Noseda had endured a torrid start to the turf season with only two winners from his first 57 runners, however the Newmarket trainer has had a rather more successful last fortnight with three winners and six placed horses from his last 15 runners. The stable are clearly beginning to find form and could be worth following over the next few weeks. Noseda's best chance at Royal Ascot may prove to be Fleeting Spirit who is as short as [5.0] for the Kings Stand Stakes and the stables resurgence is a timely boost to her chance.
Alan King is a force to be reckoned with all year round and he has had four winners from his last 17 runners. Santia and Black Jacari won over jumps at Worcester and Fontwell, while King proved his versatility with victories on the Flat for Cosmea and Norman The Great at Sandown and Newbury.
